Indian pacer Akash Deep made a significant impact by claiming his first wicket in the second Test match against Bangladesh on Day 5. The match, held at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, saw Akash Deep dismissing Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam in a crucial moment.
The dismissal took place on the fourth ball of the 29th over, with Akash Deep bowling round the wicket and delivering a full ball outside off stump. Shadman tried to drive the ball but only managed to edge it, which was caught brilliantly by Yashasvi Jaiswal at gully.
Shadman had played a solid innings, scoring 50 runs off 101 balls with 10 boundaries. His dismissal left Bangladesh struggling at 93/5 after 28.4 overs, putting India in a strong position.
India dominated the morning session on Day 5 by taking five wickets, putting Bangladesh under pressure. After finishing Day 4 at 26/2, Bangladesh lost Mominul Haque early on Day 5 for just two runs, courtesy of Ravichandran Ashwin’s bowling.
Shadman Islam and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto tried to stabilize the innings with a partnership of 55 runs for the fourth wicket. However, Jadeja dismissed Shanto for 19, followed by Shadman’s dismissal for 50, leaving Bangladesh at 93/5.
Jadeja continued his impressive performance by quickly removing Litton Das for 1 and Shakib Al Hasan for 0. At the time of writing, Bangladesh were struggling at 118/7, with Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz at the crease.
In the first innings, India displayed aggressive batting, scoring 285/9 in just 34.4 overs. They set records for the fastest scores of 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 in Test cricket history. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 72 off 51 balls, KL Rahul contributed 68 off 43 balls, and Virat Kohli added 47 off 35 balls.
