In a fiery exchange on Wednesday, President Trump confronted NBC News reporter Peter Alexander, who he dismissed as a self-hating White liberal, during a discussion in the Oval Office concerning the admission of White South African refugees into the United States.
As the meeting commenced with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Alexander attempted to corner Trump by insinuating that his policies were racially motivated. He queried the President, asking, âCan you explain to America why itâs appropriate to welcome White Afrikaners here rather than the millions of South Americans and other illegal immigrants, many of whom have criminal backgrounds, that have entered the country under Bidenâs administration?â
Trump responded with characteristic bombast, asserting, âThis is a group, NBC, that is truly fake news. They ask a lot of questions in a very pointed way. Theyâre not questions; theyâre statements.â He then elaborated on his rationale for accepting South African refugees amidst broader immigration concerns.

Alexander: Mr. President, youâve brought White Afrikaner refugees here. Can you explain to America why itâs appropriate to welcome White Afrikaners when other refugees like Afghans, Venezuelans, and Haitians have had their protective status revoked?
Trump: This is a group, NBC, that is truly fake news. They ask a lot of questions in a very pointed way. Theyâre not questions; theyâre statements. Weâve had tremendous complaints about Africa and other countries. People are expressing concerns about the situation in Africa. When you say we donât take others, just look at the southern border. Weâve allowed 20 million people to come through our border, unchecked and unvetted, many of whom are criminals, coming from prisons, mental institutions, and even street gangs.
So donât say we donât take them. We do take them, and weâre trying to remove them as quickly as possible. Recently, we won a significant case that allows us to send back hundreds of criminals to Venezuela. But, we also have many people who feel persecuted in South Africa, and thatâs why weâre having this meeting. Many of them are White farmers fleeing a dire situation, and it’s heartbreaking to witness. I hope we can clarify this issue, as I know you might not want to hear it. This meeting is a bit different; we usually discuss trade and other matters, but this topic will certainly be addressed.
In a separate incident, Trump further criticized the NBC reporter after he inquired about a Qatari jet, which came right after Trump had shown a video of South Africans calling for violence against White Afrikaners, contradicting claims that such a genocide is nonexistent.

“Itâs NBC trying to divert attention from the serious issues you just witnessed,” Trump said, calling for an investigation into NBC and Comcast CEO Brian Roberts.
