City businesses are now implementing strict measures to ensure safety and order within their premises. One recent example is the Brooklyn Target, which has started carding kids as they enter the store to prevent fights and disorder. This move comes as a response to large groups of unruly kids causing chaos, getting into fights, and even throwing milk at each other.

The decision to ban anyone under 18 without an adult escort is not just about preventing shoplifting, although that is also a significant issue for the retail giant. It is primarily aimed at curbing the disruptive behavior of kids who feel emboldened by the prevailing climate of disorder to wreak havoc and disturb the shopping experience of other customers. This situation also puts the store employees in the difficult position of having to act as enforcers.

The Target store is not the only business in the area facing such challenges. A nearby McDonald’s has also imposed a ban on anyone under 20 due to similar issues with group misbehavior. These measures highlight the growing need for businesses to take proactive steps to maintain order and ensure the safety of their customers and staff.

This trend of businesses resorting to stringent security measures is a troubling reflection of the current state of affairs in the city. The rise in crime and disorder, fueled by misguided progressive policies, is leading to a future where everyday activities like shopping are marred by fear and uncertainty. The sight of bouncers at the door of a retail store and the need to show ID to purchase basic items send a clear message that safety is a luxury that cannot be taken for granted.

The push for “equity and justice” has inadvertently resulted in a society plagued by fear, distrust, and social decay. The consequences of lenient criminal justice laws are far-reaching, with each accommodation made to accommodate criminal behavior bringing us one step closer to a dystopian reality. Unless there is a significant shift in policies and a rollback of the harmful reforms that have weakened law enforcement and emboldened criminals, New York City will continue its descent into chaos and lawlessness. It is imperative that measures be taken to restore order and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
