Rohit Sharma, the star opener for the Indian cricket team, was left disappointed after a crucial mistake led to his dismissal in the third ODI against South Africa. The match took place on Saturday, December 6, in Visakhapatnam.

In a game where India bowled first and restricted South Africa to a total of 270 runs, Rohit Sharma’s dismissal came as a setback for the Indian team. On the fifth ball of the 26th over bowled by Keshav Maharaj, Rohit attempted a slogsweep but mistimed the shot, resulting in a top-edge. Matthew Breetzke took a brilliant catch at deep mid-wicket to end Rohit’s innings. The opener expressed his frustration by swinging his bat in disappointment. Rohit Sharma had to depart after scoring a well-crafted 75 runs off 73 balls, including seven boundaries and three sixes.

Prior to his dismissal, Rohit had formed a formidable opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, adding 155 runs to the scoreboard. This partnership was the second-highest opening stand for India against South Africa in ODIs.

Despite the setback in the third ODI, Rohit Sharma concluded the South Africa series on a positive note with a solid half-century. Throughout the series, he showcased his good form, scoring two half-centuries in three matches. In the first game, Rohit scored a quick 57 runs off 51 balls, followed by a brief innings of 14 runs in the second match. However, he bounced back in the final game, accumulating 146 runs in total across the series at an average of 48.66.

Notably, Rohit Sharma achieved a significant milestone in the series by crossing the 20,000-run mark in international cricket. With a total of 20,048 runs from 505 matches across formats, Rohit joined an elite club of Indian batters. He now stands as the fourth Indian player to achieve this feat, trailing behind Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, and Sachin Tendulkar on the all-time run-scoring list.

The performance of Rohit Sharma in the South Africa series not only showcased his batting prowess but also solidified his position as a key player for the Indian team. As he continues to excel on the field, fans can expect more exceptional innings from the talented opener in the future.
