South Park Creators Explain Why They Rarely Use Trump’s Name in Episodes

When it comes to incorporating real-life figures into their storylines, the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have taken a unique approach. Despite the controversial nature of former President Donald Trump, they have only mentioned his name in a couple of episodes. Instead, they have chosen to depict his unmistakable persona through an existing character, Mr. Garrison.

In a 2015 interview with The Daily Beast, Parker and Stone revealed that this decision was made to prevent Trump from receiving the “satisfaction” of seeing himself portrayed on TV.

Despite stepping back from directly referencing Trump, the creators show no signs of slowing down as they gear up for the next season of South Park. They plan to continue delivering their signature social commentary, focusing on topics that they are passionate about.

Stone expressed their approach by saying, “It’s just way more fun to be like, Oh, Cartman’s going to dress up like a robot.”
