Karen Read, a Massachusetts woman who was charged with the murder of her Boston cop boyfriend, has gained a devoted following of supporters who have adopted a special hand gesture to show their support. This gesture is the American Sign Language sign for “I love you,” and it has become a symbol of solidarity for Read’s supporters.

The use of the “I love you” sign was encouraged by Read’s attorneys as a way for supporters to express their backing for her without causing a disturbance in and around the courthouse. Instead of cheers and chants, the pink-clad supporters of Read have been using the sign to welcome her in and out of the courtroom.

In a recent court appearance, Read was acquitted of the second-degree murder charge that was brought against her. The case stemmed from an incident in which she was accused of hitting her boyfriend, John O’Keefe, with her car and leaving him to die in a snowstorm outside a suburban Boston house party. Despite being convicted of drunk driving, Read’s supporters were overjoyed by the outcome of the trial and celebrated with the “I love you” sign.

Read and her legal team reciprocated the gesture, showing their appreciation for the support they have received throughout the legal proceedings. Her father, William Read, spoke about the overwhelming support his daughter has received, attributing it to a desire to fight against corruption and injustice.

The use of the “I love you” sign by Read’s supporters has become a powerful symbol of solidarity and love in the face of adversity. As the legal drama continues to unfold, it serves as a reminder of the strength and unity that can be found in times of crisis.
