A fresh round of winter weather is on the way to Colorado starting on Monday, bringing new snowfall across the state, as reported by the National Weather Service.

Snow is expected to start falling in the mountains of southern Colorado and the Front Range Urban Corridor, including Denver, late Monday afternoon and intensify overnight, according to NWS forecasters.

The storm is forecasted to move towards the Eastern Plains by Tuesday, as predicted by forecasters.

A Winter Weather Advisory will be in place from 11 p.m. on Monday to noon on Tuesday for metro Denver and its surrounding areas, the southern foothills, the Palmer Divide, and the I-70 corridor through the Eastern Plains.

The heaviest snowfall is expected before Tuesday morning’s commute, leading to slippery and dangerous road conditions for drivers, as stated in the advisory.

According to snow forecasts on Monday morning, the following snowfall totals are anticipated by 5 p.m. on Tuesday:

  • Up to 5 inches in Denver, Brighton, Broomfield, Aurora, Arvada, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Northglenn, and at Denver International Airport
  • Up to 7 inches in Golden, Centennial, Lakewood, and Parker
  • Up to 3 inches in Vail, Breckenridge, Snowmass Ski Area, Winter Park, Loveland, and Keystone
  • Up to 5 inches in the San Juan Mountains of southern Colorado, including Coal Bank Pass and Wolf Creek Pass
  • Up to 4 inches in the Park Range and Rocky Mountains of central Colorado, including Rabbit Ears Pass, Bear Lake, Rollands Pass, and Mount Werner
  • Up to 3 inches of snow at the Eisenhower Tunnels

The highest likelihood of snow in the Denver area is between 8 p.m. on Monday and 11 a.m. on Tuesday, as per forecasters.

Although Monday will see slightly warmer temperatures with highs reaching 38 degrees in Denver, temperatures are expected to drop back below freezing overnight and remain there on Tuesday, peaking around 24 degrees, according to NWS forecasters. Denver could experience single-digit temperatures on Tuesday night, while the mountains might see sub-zero temperatures.

The next chance for snow across the state is anticipated on Thursday and Saturday, as mentioned in a Hazardous Weather Outlook by forecasters.
