As reported by The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday, May 3, Leavitt, 32, disclosed her decision to leave the Hulu reality TV show during her final Broadway performance of Chicago that day. This news was further confirmed by Deadline later that day.

Us Weekly has reached out to Leavitt’s representative for further comment.

The day before the announcement, Leavitt shared an Instagram video celebrating the conclusion of her role as Roxie Hart. Whitney Leavitt is keeping her plans for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives under wraps. “We’re figuring it out in real-time. I don’t really know,” Leavitt, 32, commented during a Wednesday, April 8, interview on Good Morning America. “I feel sometimes that it’s like time to venture out.” [

The video did not mention Mormon Wives, where Leavitt has been a full-time cast member since its Hulu debut in September 2024. The show follows a group of Mormon mom influencers, including Leavitt, whose lives were dramatically altered by a high-profile cheating scandal.

Leavitt began her Broadway career in Chicago in February, following the announcement of her transition from TV to stage in December 2025. This move followed her participation in season 34 of Dancing With the Stars, where she finished in sixth place.

Leavitt’s decision to leave Mormon Wives follows recent controversies that have affected the show, including a police investigation into an alleged domestic violence incident involving Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex Dakota Mortensen, which temporarily halted production. The show’s executive producer, Jeff Jenkins, commented on the possibility of Paul not returning for season 5. “I certainly hope [she will film with the other women],” Jenkins, 58, mentioned at Deadline’s “Reality TV Summit” on Friday, May 1. “Again, first and foremost, is she healthy of body and mind, then we’ll talk about it.”

A month earlier, Miranda McWhorter‘s ex-husband, Chase McWhorter, shared on the April 7 episode of Harry Jowsey’s “Boyfriend Material” podcast his uncertainty about the show’s future. “I think that’s kind of up in the air at this point,” Chase, 30, stated. “Hoping they do. All the other women have a bunch of great stories and story lines that haven’t been told. I think that’s a great thing they could look into. So I think they should, but we’ll see.”
