The 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) has reached its final round of league games. The Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to face off in Match 66 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, May 21.
GT is aiming for a top-two finish, having already secured their spot in the IPL 2026 playoffs. They are looking to bounce back after a loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which ended their five-match winning streak.
Meanwhile, CSK’s chances are hanging by a thread. While not yet eliminated, their playoff hopes are slim as they head to Ahmedabad without MS Dhoni. They might have to focus on playing for pride and potentially disrupting the hosts’ plans.
GT’s squad for IPL 2026: Shubman Gill (c), Jos Buttler (wk), Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Rahul Tewatia, Washington Sundar, Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, Glenn Phillips, Jason Holder, Jayant Yadav, R Sai Kishore, Nishant Sindhu, Arshad Khan, Anuj Rawat (wk), Kumar Kushagra (wk), Connor Esterhuizen, Ishant Sharma, Kulwant Khejroliya, Luke Wood, Gurnoor Singh Brar, Manav Suthar, Ashok Sharma.
CSK’s squad for IPL 2026: Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Dewald Brevis, Matthew Short, Urvil Patel (wk), Sarfaraz Khan, Anshul Kamboj, Gurjapneet Singh, Macneil Noronha, Ayush Mhatre, Kartik Sharma (wk), Prashant Veer, Dian Forrester, Noor Ahmad, Shreyas Gopal, Akash Madhwal, Mukesh Choudhary, Spencer Johnson, Zak Foulkes, Akeal Hosein, Rahul Chahar, Matt Henry, Kuldip Yadav.
IPL 2026: GT seek top-two boost as CSK fight to stay alive

GT’s choice to play Arshad Khan instead of Prasidh Krishna has been a recurring issue in recent matches. Shubman Gill appears to lack confidence in Arshad’s bowling. Bringing back last year’s Purple Cap winner could make GT the favorites.
Even without this change, GT is likely to win convincingly against CSK. For Chennai to succeed, Sanju Samson needs to perform well, but facing Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada could make that difficult. Ruturaj Gaikwad is experiencing a notably poor batting season, and winning the powerplay could be challenging for CSK.
CSK can play without pressure, and with a few standout deliveries, they could overcome GT’s strong lineup. However, Gujarat is expected to prevail.
Prediction: GT to win Match 66 of IPL 2026.
