Adrian Grenier recently opened up about why fans won’t see him in the upcoming sequel to the popular movie, “The Devil Wears Prada.” In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Grenier revealed that he never received a call to reprise his role as Nate Cooper in the sequel. Despite feeling disappointed about not returning, Grenier expressed his excitement for Anne Hathaway and the rest of the cast, and he is looking forward to seeing the sequel as a fan of the original movie.

Grenier jokingly mentioned that while he won’t be appearing on screen, he hopes to at least be invited to the premiere of the sequel. The actor reflected on his character, Nate, who was criticized by fans for not being supportive of Andy’s career aspirations in the first film. Grenier acknowledged the backlash and admitted that Nate could have used some growing up, similar to himself at the time.

The original “The Devil Wears Prada,” released in 2006, follows Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, as she navigates working for the demanding editor Miranda Priestly, portrayed by Meryl Streep. The character of Nate, Andy’s boyfriend in the film, faced scrutiny for not being as supportive of Andy’s career ambitions as fans would have liked. Grenier addressed this criticism and acknowledged that Nate was not able to provide the support that Andy needed due to his own insecurities.

While Hathaway, Streep, and Emily Blunt are set to reprise their roles in the sequel, Grenier will not be returning. Australian actor Patrick Brammall has been cast as a love interest for Andy in “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” The film is expected to be released in May 2026, and fans can look forward to seeing how Andy’s story continues to unfold.
