The recent wildfires in Southern California have led to the closure of schools across Los Angeles County. As a safety measure, at least 18 out of the 80 school districts in the county have announced that schools will remain closed on Wednesday. This decision comes as the fires continue to burn and strong winds pose a threat to the area.

One such announcement was made by the Azusa Unified School District, stating, “Due to the volatility of the ongoing high wind event, power outages affecting several schools, and the nearby Eaton fire, all A.U.S.D. schools will be closed.” The district emphasized that the safety of the community is their top priority.

Several other school districts have followed suit and announced closures for Wednesday. The Alhambra Unified School District, Arcadia Unified School District, Burbank Unified School District, Duarte Unified School District, El Monte City School District, Glendale Unified School District, La Cañada Unified School District, Las Virgenes Unified School District, Los Angeles Unified School District, Monrovia Unified School District, Mountain View School District, Pasadena Unified School District, San Marino School District, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, South Pasadena Unified School District, Temple City Unified School District, and Valle Lindo School District have all confirmed that their schools will be closed.

Each district cited various reasons for the closures, including high winds, power outages, downed trees, and damage to school campuses. The closures are a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, staff, and families.

As the wildfires continue to pose a threat to the region, residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to stay safe. The school districts are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to reopen schools once it is deemed safe to do so. Stay tuned for further updates on the status of school closures in Los Angeles County.
