An unsettling tragedy unfolded in Queens on Thursday night as an estranged husband took the life of his wife’s new partner in a fit of jealousy. Jose Centeno, 55, unleashed a barrage of bullets at Antonio Cantor, 50, outside the victim’s home on 119th Street near 28th Avenue in College Point. Despite the desperate attempts of the woman to intervene, Cantor succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital.

Sources revealed that Centeno, who is currently separated from his wife, initially fled the scene but later surrendered himself at the 109th Precinct station house. He now faces charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The shocking incident was witnessed by a bystander who works at a nearby scrap metal yard. According to the witness, surveillance footage captured the moment the two men engaged in a physical altercation before the fatal shooting.

The victim, Cantor, was described as a contractor known for his helpful nature and willingness to assist neighbors. He was fondly remembered for his acts of kindness, such as tending to the peach tree and cutting grass for those around him. The senseless violence that claimed his life has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of a beloved member.

The aftermath of the tragedy was marked by a somber scene outside Cantor’s residence, with a trail of blood staining the sidewalk as a grim reminder of the horrific events that transpired. The senseless act of violence serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of unchecked anger and jealousy. As the community grapples with the aftermath of this heartbreaking incident, one can only hope for justice to be served and for healing to begin for all those affected by this senseless act of violence.
