Chicago Woman Accused of Setting Up Carjacking Through Fake Facebook Account
Prosecutors in Chicago have charged Diamond Fleming, 21, with aggravated vehicular hijacking after she allegedly set up a carjacking through a fake Facebook account created with her boyfriend.
According to prosecutors, Fleming and her boyfriend used the fake profile to lure a 29-year-old woman who was selling a 2006 Hyundai Sonata online. The couple then met the victim in the 6700 block of South Paxton on January 27 under the pretense of completing the car sale. It was during this meeting that Fleming’s boyfriend brandished a gun and they carjacked the victim, as reported by Judge James Costello in his detention order.
Following the carjacking, Fleming reportedly blocked the victim’s Facebook account in an attempt to avoid being identified. However, the victim was able to identify Fleming in a photo lineup conducted by the Chicago Police Department.
