Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has made significant strides in expanding its presence in South Korea with the launch of its first managed hotel and the commencement of two new development projects. The company recently unveiled the Wyndham Goseong Gangwon, a sprawling 529-room hotel situated near the picturesque Seoraksan National Park.

In addition to this milestone achievement, Wyndham Hotels has solidified agreements for the development of two new properties in South Korea. The Howard Johnson by Wyndham Seoul is set to commence operations in 2028, while the Wyndham Busan is expected to open its doors to guests in 2030. These developments mark the company’s commitment to strategically expanding its footprint in the region.

Ben Schumacher, the regional vice-president of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts APAC operations, expressed enthusiasm about the growing tourism market in South Korea. He highlighted the strategic importance of expanding the brand’s presence through high-quality additions like the Wyndham Goseong, Gangwon. Schumacher emphasized Wyndham’s global scale, industry-leading loyalty platform, and local expertise as key factors that drive performance and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

The Wyndham Goseong hotel, ideally located near Bongpo Beach and Seoraksan National Park, is designed to cater to leisure tourists, families, and MICE groups. The hotel’s prime location offers guests easy access to popular tourist attractions and outdoor activities, making it a desirable destination for travelers.

This expansion by Wyndham Hotels comes at a time when the tourism sector in South Korea is experiencing a resurgence, fueled by strong domestic travel and a steady increase in international arrivals. The company’s foray into the Asia-Pacific region underscores its commitment to growth and innovation in key markets.

These initiatives complement the existing portfolio, which includes 30 hotels and over 9,200 rooms across various brands such as Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Ramada Hotel & Suites, Trademark Collection, and Wyndham Grand.
