“Yellowjackets” is set to wrap up its story with the upcoming fourth season, as reported by Variety.

The critically acclaimed series from Showtime and Paramount+, produced by Lionsgate TV, made its debut in 2021, and its third season aired from February to April 2025. Fans can expect the fourth season to premiere in 2026, with a specific release date to be announced in the near future. The writers have already opened the room for Season 4.

“After three amazing seasons and much deliberation, we are thrilled to announce that we will bring the story of Yellowjackets to its thrilling conclusion in this fourth and final chapter,” said series creators and co-showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. “We have always understood that the narrative would dictate its own ending, and it’s our belief that we must heed that guidance. Crafting this emotional, chaotic, and profoundly human tale has been an incredibly valuable experience and a true privilege for us. We express our heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary cast, crew, and writers who have fearlessly joined us on this adventure to make it happen. Above all, we wish to thank our devoted fans who have accompanied us through every twist, enigma, and meal — the Hive wouldn’t exist without you! We look forward to sharing the final chapter and hope you find it… delectable. All the best, A & B.”

According to a source familiar with the situation, negotiations are underway for Lyle and Nickerson to extend their partnership with Paramount following the series conclusion.

This announcement follows a trend of Showtime series concluding after the Paramount-Skydance merger. Recently, it was reported that “The Chi” would be ending after eight seasons, while Variety exclusively reported the cancellation of the prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin”. Currently, the only remaining original series on Showtime are “The Agency,” preparing for its second season, and “Dexter: Resurrection,”, which has recently announced its Season 2 renewal.

The third season of “Yellowjackets” featured a cast including Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, and Simone Kessell. Elijah Wood had a recurring role, while Hilary Swank, Joel McHale, and Ashley Sutton made guest appearances.

Lyle, Nickerson, and fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco serve as executive producers for the series, along with Drew Comins of Creative Engine, Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa, and Brad Van Arragon. The series is produced for Showtime by Lionsgate Television and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

“Yellowjackets” has garnered considerable acclaim from both critics and viewers. According to Paramount, Season 3 was the most widely watched season of the show to date, with the finale being the most-viewed episode in the show’s history. The series boasts a total of 10 Emmy nominations, including successive nominations for best drama and best actress in a drama (Lynskey).
