Donald Trump’s McDonald’s Visit Sparks Fake Yelp Reviews
Donald Trump’s recent photo op at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s has caused quite a stir on Yelp, with fake reviews flooding the fast-food chain’s page. The influx of negative and humorous reviews prompted Yelp to intervene and halt any further submissions.
According to Yelp, the Mickey D’s location in Bucks County, PA is no longer accepting reviews due to the overwhelming amount of fake news being posted. The website has a system in place to detect abnormal traffic patterns, which triggered a staff review in this case.
Yelp officials have confirmed that the McDonald’s page will remain on pause indefinitely while they work to remove the fake reviews. New reviews will not be allowed until the situation dies down and the attention shifts away from Trump’s visit.
One of the fake reviews humorously stated, “Senile old man got bronzer on my fries… repeated himself several times, something about Ronald McDonald in the shower at the golf club.” This is just one example of the creative reviews that were flooding the page.
During his visit, Trump reportedly learned how to cook McDonald’s fries and handed out fast food to drive-thru customers while engaging in conversations and trolling Kamala Harris. The day before, he made a bizarre reference to Arnold Palmer in the shower during a rally speech in the state.
While online trolls targeted Trump with their reviews, Yelp is cracking down on the fake submissions in an effort to maintain the integrity of their platform.
