Serial Subway Perv Dexter Betancourt Released Without Bail After Disturbing Incident
A subway sicko who attempted to kiss a female passenger’s foot and then exposed himself was released without bail on Wednesday. Manhattan prosecutors revealed unsettling details of the incident involving Dexter Betancourt, 37, a serial creep with a history of lewd acts.
Betancourt, appearing disheveled in Manhattan Criminal Court with a black eye, was let go on supervised release as the charges were not bail eligible under state law enforcement reforms. He shouted at a Post reporter before leaving, showing his lack of remorse for the disturbing behavior.
The incident occurred at the 14th Street-Sixth Avenue subway station on June 18. Betancourt approached a 30-year-old woman, complimenting her toes before attempting to kiss her foot and exposing himself. He was charged with public lewdness and exposure of a person, but these charges were not bail eligible.
Despite Betancourt’s long history of arrests for assault and sex crimes, including previous incidents of violence against women, he was released on supervised release by Manhattan judge Kacie Lally, sparking outrage among law enforcement officials.
During the encounter with the victim, Betancourt made inappropriate advances towards her, urging her to look at his private parts and making lewd comments. He was caught on surveillance footage inside the station, further solidifying the evidence against him.
Previous incidents involving Betancourt include assaulting women in public spaces, with a particularly disturbing case of choking and biting a woman in the face. He has a pattern of targeting strangers and engaging in violent behavior.
Despite his troubling history, Betancourt’s attorney did not provide any immediate comment on the recent charges. Betancourt is scheduled to appear in court on August 13, where he will face further legal proceedings.
