Furthermore, Peter took aim at the prevailing narrative surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, describing the notion that she was abducted by “some old lady snatcher” and kept in a bunker for 18 days as absurd. He criticized Sheriff Nanos’ media strategy, arguing that his decision to conduct exclusive sit-down interviews had only added to the confusion surrounding the case.
Peter expressed disbelief that Sheriff Nanos chose one-on-one appearances over holding a formal press conference, which he believed would have been more efficient in disseminating information and avoiding contradictions in the sheriff’s statements.
During the video, Peter revisited Sheriff Nanos’ public remarks, particularly focusing on a warning issued by Nanos to the alleged kidnapper. Peter reacted skeptically to the sheriff’s warning, questioning its effectiveness in intimidating the suspect. He also cast doubt on the progress of the investigation, expressing uncertainty about whether authorities were truly making headway in the case.
In another interview clip with ABC Arizona, Sheriff Nanos addressed public criticism surrounding the investigation, acknowledging that criticism was inevitable. Peter sharply criticized Nanos’ response, deeming it dismissive and unprofessional given the seriousness of the case.
Peter accused Sheriff Nanos of attempting to mislead the public about the status of the investigation, suggesting that officials were trying to “gaslight” people into believing that Nancy Guthrie was still alive and out there. In the latest report from NBC News, it was revealed that more than two weeks had passed in the search for Nancy Guthrie, with approximately 400 investigators actively working on the case. Authorities found no evidence to suggest that Guthrie was taken across the U.S.–Mexico border.
