Zurich Insurance Partners with YAS to Provide Embedded Insurance for Robots in Hong Kong
Zurich Insurance (Hong Kong) has joined forces with YAS Insurance to offer embedded insurance for robots, specifically targeting businesses that are incorporating AI and robotics technologies across various industries in Hong Kong.
In this collaborative effort, Zurich will develop customized micro-insurance products for robots and integrate the coverage within YAS’ sales and service channels for robotics.
The main objective of this initiative is to assist corporate clients in managing operational and repair-related risks associated with deploying robotic systems effectively.
Eric Hui, the CEO of Zurich Insurance (Greater China), expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Zurich has always been a proponent of InsurTech, which closely aligns with YAS’ vision. Through this collaboration, we aim to leverage insurance to support technological advancements and facilitate digital transformation and smart operations for businesses in Hong Kong.”
Businesses utilizing YAS robotics solutions will benefit from scenario-based coverage that includes protection against repair costs for robots resulting from insured incidents, as well as compensation for deductibles under associated insurance policies.
Recognizing that different robotics applications pose unique risk profiles, the partners are focused on addressing these distinct exposures through comprehensive coverage encompassing both robot repairs and third-party liability.
The ultimate aim of this collaboration is to enhance risk management concerning robotics applications and promote the broader adoption of AI-driven technologies in Hong Kong.
William Lee, co-founder of YAS, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “Following our successful collaboration with Zurich on safeguarding electric taxi fleets, we are excited to work together again in the realm of robotics insurance. Moving forward, we plan to deepen our collaboration with Zurich across various areas such as autonomous driving, electric vehicle ecosystem, drones, and green finance, to assist businesses in Hong Kong in seizing the opportunities presented by innovative technologies.”
Earlier this month, Zurich Commercial Insurance expanded its global reach with the launch of the Data Center Project Guard product in Brazil, Germany, Italy, the Nordics, and Spain, following its successful introduction in the US earlier in 2026.
Originally developed by Zurich North America’s construction team, the product quickly gained traction in the US market before its expansion into the five new markets.
