Former Pakistan cricketer Tanveer Ahmed has recently stirred controversy by making bold claims about the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and the ongoing IPL 2025 season. According to Tanveer, most of the IPL teams are associated with fixers, despite the BCCI promoting the league as the biggest in the world. In a scathing post on X, Tanveer alleged, “BCCI tells that our IPL is the biggest league in the world. Yes, that it is but the biggest fixing also happens and most of the teams are with the fixers.”

These claims come on the heels of a recent scandal involving Rajasthan Royals (RR) during the current IPL season. Jaideep Bihani, the convenor of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad-hoc committee, accused Rajasthan Royals of match-fixing following their narrow loss to Lucknow Super Giants. The match in question saw RR needing nine runs off the last over but failing to achieve the target, resulting in a two-run victory for Lucknow. However, an official from the BCCI dismissed these allegations, pointing out that the RCA is no longer operational as reported by The Times of India.

In response to the accusations, Rajasthan Royals penned a letter to the BCCI refuting the claims and asserting that they were baseless and aimed at creating unnecessary controversy. The letter emphasized that such statements not only tarnish the reputation of Rajasthan Royals but also affect Royal Multi Sport Private Limited (RMPL), the Rajasthan Sports Council, the BCCI, and the game of cricket as a whole.

It is worth noting that Rajasthan Royals had previously faced a two-year suspension from the IPL in 2015 due to the involvement of key officials in betting activities during the 2013 season. The team did not participate in the 2016 and 2017 editions of the tournament as a result of this suspension.

As the cricketing world grapples with these serious allegations and controversies, it remains to be seen how the BCCI and IPL governing bodies will address and investigate these claims to uphold the integrity of the sport. Stay tuned for further developments in this unfolding saga.
