16-Year-Old Girl Stabbed Near Roosevelt CTA Station
A disturbing incident unfolded near the Roosevelt CTA station on Tuesday night when a 16-year-old girl was stabbed multiple times, as reported by Chicago police. The attack took place at approximately 9:50 p.m. on the northeast corner of State and Roosevelt.
According to officers present at the scene, individuals accompanying the victim were not forthcoming with information. However, initial reports suggested that the victim’s group engaged in a heated argument with another group of girls before one of them brandished a knife and launched the attack.
Following the assault, the injured girl sought refuge at the nearby CTA station, where a Chicago police Mass Transit officer swiftly administered a chest seal to help stabilize her condition until paramedics arrived. Chest seals are specialized medical dressings utilized to cover open chest wounds and prevent air from entering the chest cavity, which could prove to be life-threatening.
The victim was subsequently transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, where she is currently receiving medical treatment. As of Wednesday morning, no arrests had been made in connection with the incident, as investigators diligently reviewed surveillance footage from the vicinity in hopes of identifying the perpetrator.
