Two Women Stabbed on Brown Line Train in Loop
On Saturday evening, two women were victims of a stabbing incident while riding a Brown Line train in the Loop, marking the second serious stabbing on the CTA system downtown within the same week.
The altercation took place at the Clark-Lake station located at 124 West Lake Street, as reported by Chicago police. At approximately 7:52 p.m., a physical confrontation occurred between two women, aged 43 and 23, and another woman on the platform. Unfortunately, the conflict escalated as all three individuals boarded the train, leading to a second attack by the suspect resulting in cuts on the older woman’s arm and the younger woman’s hand.
According to police dispatch records, the victims, identified as a mother and daughter, initially contacted 911 to report an attempted robbery by a woman. However, the situation quickly turned violent as they reported being stabbed.
Both victims were promptly taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition on Saturday night.
Law enforcement officers were able to apprehend the suspect on a train car at Clark-Lake following the incident.
Recent Stabbing Incidents on CTA Platforms
This stabbing incident is the second serious attack to occur on or near a CTA platform this week. Just days before, a 37-year-old man was stabbed while waiting on the northbound platform of the Grand Red Line station in River North, situated at 521 North State Street.
Shortly before midnight, the victim was approached by an assailant who stabbed him in the left tricep without warning. The victim managed to seek assistance from a police squad car stationed at the intersection of Hubbard and State streets.
Surveillance footage described the attacker as a man wearing a black hoodie, hat, puffy coat, and light gray or light blue pants, along with blue Crocs and a blue bag. Although the victim believed the assailant to be Hispanic, no arrests have been made in connection to this case.
