A Suppressed Federal Alcohol Report

Today, a federally-commissioned study examining the health effects of alcohol was released in an independent journal. The findings indicate that even minimal alcohol consumption may elevate the risk of disease. This research was initially part of an update to the U.S. dietary guidelines. However, the study became controversial as some lawmakers and alcohol industry trade groups alleged that the scientists involved were biased against alcohol, potentially leading to severe conclusions.
