The stage is set for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the draws recently concluded and the potential paths of footballing legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo laid out. The tournament will be held next summer in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, with the draws taking place in Washington D.C.

Defending champions Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, have been drawn into Group J. They will face tough competition from Austria, Algeria, and Jordan as they aim to retain their title. On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, the UEFA Nations League holders, find themselves in Group K alongside Colombia, Uzbekistan, and the winners of Playoff 1.

While Messi’s participation in the tournament is still uncertain, Ronaldo has announced that the 2026 World Cup will be his last, as he plans to retire at the age of 41. The two superstars are expected to light up North America with their performances and lead their respective teams to glory.

The hosts Mexico have been drawn in Group A alongside South Korea, South Africa, and the winners of Playoff D. Canada will compete in Group B against Switzerland, Qatar, and the winners of Playoff A. The USA, in Group D, will face Australia, Paraguay, and the winners of Playoff C.

Other notable groups include Group C, where Brazil will take on Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti, and Group E, which features Germany, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, and Curacao. The Netherlands in Group F will clash with Japan, Tunisia, and the winners of Playoff B. Belgium, Spain, France, and England also have challenging groups to navigate.
