A 4-year-old girl sustained severe injuries after being hit by a school bus while attempting to cross a street in Brooklyn on Monday evening.
The incident occurred on East 2nd Street between Avenues I & J in Midwood shortly before 5 p.m., as reported by the NYPD.
Emergency services transported her to Maimonides Hospital, where she was immediately reported to be in critical condition. The school bus remained at the scene of the accident.
According to the NYPD, her condition was later stabilized, although she remains critically ill as of that evening.
The status of any students aboard the bus during the occurrence is still unknown.
Authorities have indicated that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
