What Transpired Between the ICE Agent and the Detainee?
An ICE agent displayed alarming behavior during the incident, showcasing a lack of control over the situation.
The video, captured by photographer Raphi Talisman, shows two agents, one of whom is identified by a balaclava and a vest reading “POLICE ICE,” grappling with a man on the ground. As the man resists the arrest, he can be heard shouting in both English and Spanish.
In a moment of chaos, the firearm drops after the man manages to hit it away. The agent then retrieves the weapon and points it at the witnesses, although it’s unclear whether any threats were posed by them as the crowd is heard shouting, “Put the gun down!”
“What, you going to shoot me? Go ahead, shoot me,” a bystander is heard challenging the officer.
Meanwhile, the detainee proclaims, “I love America,” and insists he was “born in D.C.,” desperately asking to be set free.

ICE Agent Provokes Onlookers
ICE drops his gun—picks up to point directly at bystanders just for filming the incompetence.
“Put the gun down!’ they plead. “You gonna shoot me?”

Instead of de-escalating the situation, the clumsy agent exchanges humorous banter with the crowd, asking one bystander, “Do you want to take him home?” presumably referring to the arrested individual.
When questioned about the basis of the arrest, the same agent responds, “Because he is a criminal. How about that?”
After several tense minutes, additional ICE officers arrive to transport the man away in a minivan, as he pleas for someone to reach out to his wife. Talisman described the entire episode as “brutal.”
Alarming behavior continued as the agent, concealed behind his balaclava, sarcastically asked someone in the crowd, “Want to be next?”

Public Outrage Over Disturbing Video
An ICE officer dropped his weapon and recklessly pointed it towards a crowd during the altercation.
The shocking video has prompted a strong backlash on social media. One viewer commented, “An officer should never engage physically with a suspect while wielding an unholstered weapon. They are poorly trained, uncontrolled, and unaccountable for their actions. This individual should face consequences.”
Another stated: “This is disgraceful… this administration promotes violent rhetoric,” with a third user adding, “Absolutely horrific.”
“The incompetence exhibited by these ICE agents is revolting; they clearly lack adequate training in their interactions with the public,” another viewer expressed with frustration.
County Council member Wanika Fisher expressed her dismay at the footage, noting, “Such behavior is unacceptable. The documentation of these interactions serves to illuminate the actions of our federal government during these tense situations. Community awareness is crucial.”

ICE claims that their agents are trained to identify themselves when making arrests, often wearing masks to protect their identities. Nevertheless, they continue to face criticism for their methods and handling of such incidents.
In an attempt to deflect some of the backlash, DHS has been highlighting its ICE deportation raids. Recently, they employed a Pokémon parody to showcase their efforts.
This only led to further backlash, as representatives from the Pokémon Company International criticized the department for utilizing their imagery without permission.
“We acknowledge the recently posted video by the Department of Homeland Security that includes elements associated with our brand,” a spokesperson stated.
They added, “Our company was not involved in the creation or distribution of this content, and permission was not granted for the usage of our intellectual property.”
