The outlook is looking dim for the Republicans as they inch closer to possibly losing their majority in the House next year. With every passing day, the scales tilt increasingly against the GOP, and the current dynamics suggest that this trend is unlikely to reverse.
During his recent appearance on CNN’s *State Of The Union*, Speaker Mike Johnson found himself navigating a storm of questions regarding Trump and the looming threat of a government shutdown instigated by Republican maneuvers.

Johnson’s rhetoric, which tends to resonate so well on Fox News, fell flat on the more neutral ground of CNN. His attempt to discuss James Comey and the supposed prosecution by presidents brought forth a rather blatant distortion of facts:
“I don’t think that’s what he did, but what I have qualms with, Jake, is the total and utter weaponization of the Department of Justice.”
He continued, “Comey played a central role in this; they completely transformed the judicial apparatus over four years of the Biden administration to target one individual—Donald Trump. It’s unprecedented to see a political figure so relentlessly pursued, especially through the legal mechanisms of a country.”
Furthering his tale, Johnson claimed, “You and I would need hours to outline the multitude of ways they weaponized the DOJ, and Comey was at the helm of this. If he lied to Congress about his knowledge and timing of events, that transcends petty politics, and I believe he must stand trial for that. I trust the jury will concur.”
Tapper countered that the matter involving Comey is intricately tied to events from 2016-2017, entirely separate from Joe Biden’s administration, attempting to maintain a focus on the facts rather than the fabricated narrative being offered.
As the conversation unfolded, it became evident that the challenges for Johnson are mounting, and the implications may spell trouble for the GOP’s future as captured in the video below:
