A Florida-based multi-agency task force has successfully intercepted a record-breaking one million pounds of cocaine during fiscal year 2025. Officials emphasize that this monumental seizure translates to approximately 378 million potentially lethal dosesâsufficient to wipe out the entire U.S. population.
The operation, spearheaded by the Joint Inter-Agency Task Force â South (JIATF-S) under the auspices of U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), collaborates with partner nations to obstruct illegal narcotics circulating through the “transit zone”âa critical passage that lies between South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, while simultaneously undermining transnational criminal networks.
According to the task force, the narcotics they’ve confiscated in the last year could fill a staggering 42 dump trucks. The fiscal year 2025 concludes on Tuesday.
JIATF-S reports this monumental effort has effectively denied cartels and narco-terrorists an estimated $11.34 billion in revenue and has removed nearly 378 million lethal doses from circulation.
Spanning 42 million square miles from the Eastern Pacific to the Western Atlantic, JIATF-S operates in regions extending from international waters north of the Caribbean Antilles to the southernmost tip of South America, Cape Horn.
