Participants in this nostalgic game can gather both physical prize pieces from selected menu items and digital game tokens using McDonald’s mobile app.

After nearly ten years of absence, the beloved Monopoly game is set to return to McDonald’s in the United States.

On September 29, the renowned fast-food chain announced its plans to revive the peel-and-reveal Monopoly game in its American outlets. Customers can look forward to spotting the classic stickers on select menu items beginning October 6, with the festivities running through November 23.

“Our fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of Monopoly at McDonald’s, and we’re excited to bring it back with a contemporary, digital twist,” stated Alyssa Buetikofer, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s USA, during a recent news release. “This game holds cherished memories for countless customers, and we’re delighted that these experiences can now be shared across generations.”

In a fresh take on this iconic promotion, McDonald’s is introducing not only traditional peel-off stickers but also a digital component accessible through its mobile application.

The Monopoly game at McDonald’s allows fans to collect either physical or digital game pieces from designated menu items, unlocking prizes that vary from free food to cash, exotic trips, and gift cards. The rewards range from complimentary menu items to an impressive $1 million cash bonanza.

Physical game pieces can be found on Big Macs, Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, McMuffins, Chicken McNuggets, large fries, hash browns, and select beverages.

Digital pieces can be earned through orders made via the app, including items like Quarter Pounders, McCrispy sandwiches, McCrispy strips, McGriddles, biscuit sandwiches, medium fries, and select McCafé beverages.

Consistent with the classic game format, players will peel or scan their game pieces to reveal instant prizes, which may include menu items or accrued MyMcDonald’s Rewards points, as well as collecting property pieces to vie for larger prizes, as confirmed by McDonald’s. Each game piece also unlocks a “bonus play” feature in the app, providing a second shot at winning more prizes.

This year’s promotional offerings include a staggering 1 million American Airlines AAdvantage miles, a 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a $50,000 vacation to a Monopoly GO! destination, a $10,000 Lowe’s shopping spree, and a sky-high $1 million cash prize.

In a related announcement on the same day, Best Buy revealed its involvement as an official prize partner, providing Samsung OLED TVs and e-gift cards through Bonus Play, property-piece combinations, and extra rewards for players who collect 28 property pieces throughout the promotion.

It’s worth recalling that back in 2001, several Americans were apprehended by the Department of Justice and the FBI for orchestrating a brazen scheme to defraud McDonald’s and other contest participants. Allegations included the manipulation of high-value game piece distributions, purportedly resulting in more than $13 million worth of illicit prizes. This extraordinary tale was later adapted into a six-part miniseries titled McMillion$, which aired on HBO in 2020.
