Donna Kelce expressed her support for her future daughter-in-law, Taylor Swift, at Monday Night Football.
At the Kansas City Chiefs matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 6, 72-year-old Kelce donned her beloved Chiefs jersey, proudly displaying the name and number of her son, Travis Kelce.
This occasion, Donna sported a unique accessory honoring Swift—a white baseball cap adorned with a prominent illustration of the 35-year-old pop star. The hat also featured several tributes to Swift and her dedicated fans, complemented by multiple friendship bracelets. (Travis and Swift recently announced their engagement last month.)
Donna was seen wearing the same cap when she attended The Official Release Party of a Showgirl with Travis, 36, and other family members on October 5.
Donna’s choice of attire comes shortly after Swift launched her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, which was released on October 3.
In a touching tribute for Travis’s birthday, she also incorporated a reference to Swift’s new song “Opalite”. Prior to the album’s debut, Travis revealed that “Opalite” was his favorite track, a sentiment that Swift later confirmed was true.
“He loves that one,” Swift remarked about the track during a recent interview with the U.K.’s Capital FM. “I have favorite words, favorite phrases [and] things I’ll continuously put into a never-ending file of lyrics that I’ll sift through when I’m writing.”
Swift elaborated on the significance of “Opalite,” explaining its special tie to Travis. “Opal can be artificially created just like diamonds, and Travis’s birthstone is opal,” she mentioned. “I’ve always been fascinated by it and thought it made for an interesting metaphor; just as an opal can be crafted, so can happiness. That’s the essence of the song—contrasting these two ideas.”
