The Begin platform, based in the U.A.E., has acquired global streaming rights for the popular talent show “Pakistan Idol.” This move broadens the reach of the South Asian music competition beyond its home turf, extending to international audiences, including those in India.

This acquisition marks a pivotal advancement for Begin, reinforcing its initiative to enhance its library of South Asian content for a worldwide audience. “Pakistan Idol,” licensed from Fremantle’s esteemed global “Idol” franchise, highlights rising musical talent from all corners of Pakistan.

Viewers can look forward to a distinguished panel of judges that includes the renowned actor Fawad Khan, accomplished singer Zeb Bangash, qawwali legend Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and the talented Bilal Maqsood from Strings.

Currently, “Pakistan Idol” airs on Saturday and Sunday across a variety of seven Pakistani television networks, such as Geo TV, PTV, Green Entertainment TV, Express Entertainment, APlus Entertainment, Aur Life, and Aan TV. While the show has been accessible for streaming within Pakistan, this agreement with Begin marks its inaugural entry into global digital distribution.

Subscribers in the U.S., Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the U.A.E. will be able to watch the series on the Begin app. Meanwhile, audiences in the U.K., Germany, India, Australia, South Africa, and Nigeria can directly stream it via begin.watch.

Zoya Merchant, director at production company MHL, expressed excitement about the international distribution of “Pakistan Idol,” noting, “This signifies the remarkable journey of South Asian entertainment in engaging with global audiences. We take pride in witnessing a format deeply rooted in our local culture and talent becoming available to viewers around the world. Partnering with Begin symbolizes a crucial stride towards incorporating Pakistani artistry into the wider entertainment framework.”

Its global availability is in harmony with our goal of showcasing authentic South Asian voices on a grand international platform.”
