Authorities are investigating the suspicious deaths of four individuals, including two children, found inside a luxury San Francisco residence valued at approximately $2 million, according to police.

The tragic discovery occurred just before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday during a welfare check on the 900 block of Monterey Boulevard, situated in the upscale Westwood Highlands area, as stated by San Francisco police.

The four deceased, believed to be family members residing in the home, were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to neighbors, the family included two daughters, with one of them estimated to be around 12 or 13 years old. ABC 7 San Francisco reported this information.

Belinda Hanart, a neighbor, expressed her shock: “We barely heard anything; it’s really disturbing because we didn’t hear any noise at all. We knew it was a family of four with two girls,” she shared. “They seemed like a typical family with a normal routine.”

The neighbor continued, reflecting on how the family kept to themselves yet appeared to embrace their life, located seven miles from the city center and within three blocks of the City College of San Francisco.

“We usually heard them more than we saw them. It was just typical family life—kids playing in the garden, trying to get the dog inside, having barbecues during summer evenings, just like us,” she recounted.

“I can’t put my feelings into words; I’m in such shock. This is a tragedy, and we are deeply thinking about the family. We’re still processing this shocking news,” Hanart added.

Officials labeled the deaths as “suspicious” and have assigned the case to the San Francisco Police Department’s Homicide Detail for further investigation.

While the police have not identified any suspects, they characterized the event as an isolated incident, assuring the public that there is no ongoing threat.

SFPD Officer Robert Rueca noted, “That is a possibility. We’re not confirming any information at this moment, but we are considering that this incident could have other implications.”

Rueca remarked that such occurrences are “rare” in this neighborhood.

The office of the chief medical examiner is currently working to establish the causes of death, but has not disclosed additional details pertaining to the scene.
