King Charles Calls for £200 Billion in Damages Amid UK Links to Slave Trade Probe

A palace spokesman recently disclosed that King Charles has called for £200 billion in damages amid revelations of the UK’s historical connections to the transatlantic slave trade. The monarch expressed his deep sorrow for the suffering caused by slavery and emphasized the importance of understanding its enduring impact.

“His Majesty addressed the Commonwealth heads of government reception in Rwanda last year, expressing his profound sorrow at the plight of so many individuals affected by slavery,” the spokesman stated. The king has been actively involved in increasing his knowledge of the atrocities of the slave trade since his accession to the throne.

Historic Royal Palaces, in collaboration with an independent research project initiated in October last year, is currently investigating the ties between the British monarchy and the transatlantic slave trade during the late 17th and 18th centuries. The royal household is extending its full support to this research endeavor by granting access to the royal collection and archives.
