Nubia has announced the date for the unveiling of its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Nubia Z80 Ultra.
The announcement came via Weibo, confirming that the official launch will take place on October 22 at 2 PM China time.
Additionally, we have caught a glimpse of the design of the Nubia Z80 Ultra, which seems to be a subtly improved variant of the Nubia Z70 Ultra (shown below). The available color options will include Light White, Phantom Black, and the unique Starry Sky Collector’s Edition, inspired by the iconic artwork of Van Gogh.
Nubia also hinted at a new “professional photography kit” that will be part of the announcement, featuring a Leica-inspired design surrounding the phone.

Specifications of the Nubia Z80 Ultra
Photography is set to be a key feature of the new device, boasting a 1/1.3-inch Omnivision 990 primary camera, an all-new 1/1.55-inch ultra-wide camera, and a telephoto lens with optical image stabilization that supports a 50x hybrid zoom.
This telephoto camera will also excel at capturing ultra-close shots with a minimum distance of 15cm, with Nubia showcasing various close-up wildlife images as examples.
Powering the Nubia Z80 Ultra will be the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, with Nubia often being a frontrunner to incorporate Qualcomm’s newest technology.
Expect Nubia to maintain the high refresh rate 144Hz OLED display that was featured in last year’s model. Initial images suggest that the company is also retaining the under-display selfie camera design.
From personal experience, having an under-display camera allows for an uninterrupted viewing experience, though it often leads to less-than-ideal selfies. One can only hope Nubia has improved upon this aspect.
While pricing details have yet to be disclosed, the predecessor Nubia Z70 Ultra launched at a starting price of £649. Thus, it is reasonable to anticipate that the Nubia Z80 Ultra will likely be more affordable compared to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, while potentially outpacing it in performance and battery life.
