Quick Overview

  • Conversational photo editing has expanded to non-Pixel devices
  • Samsung and OnePlus models are included
  • Currently available only in the US

Google has announced that its conversational photo editing feature is now accessible on various non-Pixel Android smartphones, though significant limitations remain.

As noted in a recent post on the official Google Blog, a feature once exclusive to Pixel users is now available on other devices.

This editing capability, which allows for natural conversational edits, first rolled out with the Google Pixel 10 before it was made available to older Pixel generations.

To utilize this feature, users simply open a photo, select “Help me edit” in the editor, and instruct the tool on what to modify, using either text or voice commands.

Reports indicate that this is a highly effective tool, enabling adjustments like moving reflections, removing unwanted background items, enhancing lighting, modifying framing, and adding elements—all through everyday language.

Restrictions and Requirements

When we published our Google Pixel 10 Pro review, we anticipated that this feature would eventually extend to more devices, which it indeed has.

However, only ‘eligible devices’ can utilize this feature, and 9to5Google has confirmed that both the OnePlus 13 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are compatible.

Nevertheless, a significant drawback is that this feature remains limited to users in the United States, which has been a major concern since its launch.

Moreover, to gain access, you must be at least 18 years old and classified as “an eligible user in the United States,” as specified by Google.

Users will also need to set their Google Account language to English (United States) and ensure that Face Groups and location estimates are activated.

We have reached out to Google to inquire about the potential rollout of conversational editing in the UK and will update this article upon receiving a response.
