Summary

  • Samsung debuts its own Qi2 chargers
  • Currently, no Qi2-compatible smartphones for sale
  • This may indicate the future availability of a Qi2-compatible Galaxy S26

It seems Samsung has hinted that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 smartphone lineup will support Qi2 wireless charging capabilities.

According to reports from 9to5Google, Samsung is now selling a Single Wireless Charger puck on its US website, alongside a Car Wireless Charger. Both products are Qi2 MPP chargers, supporting the complete magnetized wireless charging standard.

One might wonder why Samsung has started manufacturing and retailing its own Qi2 chargers despite having no compatible products. It’s certainly curious.

Could the Samsung Galaxy S26 Confirm Qi2 Support?

Is this an indication that Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series will follow in the footsteps of the Google Pixel 10 and iPhone 17 Pro Max by embracing Qi2 charging? Not necessarily.

Details in the product listings mention that each charger “Requires Qi-compatible device; a Qi 2.0-certified magnetic case is needed for the phone, plus a 25W power adapter (sold separately).”

This suggests that these chargers are intended to be used with existing Samsung Galaxy S25 devices equipped with a Qi2-enabled case, which Samsung also produces and offers for sale.

Nevertheless, the situation raises questions. If Samsung has entered the Qi2 charger market, one costing a considerable $84.99 (around £63), it would be unusual for the company not to integrate this technology into its next flagship series.

Although it might seem far-fetched, Google gained significant positive attention for adopting the wireless charging standard in its latest smartphones. Samsung is likely keen to avoid missing out.

With its upcoming line-up rumored to be less thrilling than anticipated, Samsung is certainly striving to showcase any advancements it can.
