As we observe National Lung Cancer Awareness Month, we reaffirm our dedication to combating lung cancer and providing support to every American affected by this harrowing disease. Throughout November, we unite with families who bravely confront cancer, embodying courage, faith, and resilience, while renewing our commitment to creating a nation where fewer lives are prematurely lost to chronic illnesses.

Lung cancer continues to be one of the most lethal diseases we face, accounting for approximately 20% of all cancer fatalities. This year, it is projected to claim over 124,000 lives, with more than 226,000 Americans receiving a lung cancer diagnosis for the first time. Each statistic represents a deeply personal narrative of suffering and strength.

As President, I advocate for preventative healthcare and healthy living as vital strategies to mitigate the impact of lung cancer. The well-being of our nation is intrinsically linked to the health of its people. By prioritizing their health and undergoing regular screenings, Americans not only safeguard their own futures but also contribute to the collective strength of our country.

My Administration is committed to enhancing transparency in hospital and insurance billing, empowering patients to navigate treatment costs without facing financial ruin. Through initiatives like the $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program included in the One Big Beautiful Bill, we are bolstering rural healthcare capabilities, increasing the number of healthcare providers, and ensuring high-quality, lifesaving care reaches even the most isolated areas of our nation, benefiting those affected by a myriad of health issues, including lung cancer.

This month, and every month, we stand in solidarity with those battling the formidable challenge of lung cancer and honor the memories of those we have lost. Together, we vow that no American will confront this adversity alone, and we will persist in our efforts to foster a healthier, stronger, and more hopeful future for all.
