Located in Newnan, Georgia, Dunaway Gardens is set to become the new home for the prestigious Sundance Institute Episodic Lab program. This immersive six-day program offers artists the opportunity to receive creative and strategic guidance from experienced showrunners, producers, and executives to help advance their projects and careers.

She is thrilled that the Sundance Institute has chosen Dunaway Gardens as the new home for the Episodic program, which has been a springboard for incredible artistry over the years.
The Episodic Lab aims to bring together early-career writers with original series concepts that have not yet been produced. Participants will work closely with established showrunners and development executives from major studios, networks, and production companies. The program includes workshops, pitch sessions, one-on-one meetings, case study screenings, and writers rooms focused on advancing the series concept. Fellows also receive support through pre-lab workshops and a yearlong continuum of support from the Sundance Institute.
The lab serves as a training ground for independent voices, providing creators with the tools and resources needed to move their projects and careers forward. Michelle Satter, Sundance Institute’s founding senior director of artist programs, expressed excitement about the partnership with Dunaway Gardens. She highlighted the rigorous and customized support provided to emerging writers through the Episodic Program, which has helped elevate their careers and make an impact in the industry.

The collaboration with Sundance Institute ensures that emerging episodic storytellers have a space to come together, collaborate, and receive guidance from top creative advisors and mentors.
Applications for the 2026 Sundance Institute Episodic Lab are now open until November 9th. Writers with original and visionary scripted episodic pilots are encouraged to apply for this transformative program.
