House Republicans Urged to Release Epstein Files

Prior to Trump’s recent comments, Congressman Massie had appeared on a news program accusing Trump and the Justice Department of deflection. Trump had demanded Attorney General Pam Bondi and the FBI to investigate Bill Clinton’s ties to Epstein, which Massie deemed as a distraction tactic.

“If they have ongoing investigations in certain areas, those documents can’t be released,” Massie explained. “So, this might be a big smokescreen, these investigations, to open a bunch of them to, as a last-ditch effort to prevent the release of the Epstein files.”

Speaker Mike Johnson announced that the House will vote on a resolution this week to push for the release of the long-guarded Epstein Files. The bill, co-authored by Massie and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna, garnered 218 signatures last week, meeting the requirement for a vote.

All Democrats in the House have backed the bill, with four Republican names also in support: Massie, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Nancy Mace, and Lauren Boebert. However, if the resolution passes the House, it still needs to go through the Senate before reaching Trump. The President retains the option to veto the resolution once it lands on his desk.
