Amazon MGM Studios General Manager Barry Poznick to Transition into Executive Producer Role
Amazon MGM Studios unscripted TV general manager Barry Poznick is stepping down from his current position at the company. However, he will not be leaving the entertainment industry entirely. In fact, starting in January, Poznick will embark on a new chapter in his career as he enters into a three-year executive producer deal with the studio. This marks a significant shift for Poznick, who has spent nearly a decade leading MGM Alternative.
Despite his departure from his current role, Poznick will continue to be involved in MGM’s reality franchises as an executive producer. Some of the popular shows he will oversee include “The Voice,” “Shark Tank,” and various iterations of “The Real Housewives” series.
Poznick initially joined MGM in 2016 as the president of alternative television, working under the guidance of Mark Burnett, who was the worldwide television group chairman at the time.
Following Amazon’s acquisition of MGM in 2022, Poznick took on the role of general manager for unscripted TV at the studio. During his tenure in this position, he played a key role in developing new series such as “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity” and the upcoming “American Gladiators” reboot.
In a memo to staff, Amazon MGM Studios boss Peter Friedlander announced Poznick’s transition to a producing deal, highlighting Poznick’s contributions to the company and the industry as a whole. Friedlander expressed confidence in the existing leadership team at MGM Unscripted and emphasized the continued partnership between Amazon and Poznick.
The news of Barry Poznick’s move to an executive producer role signals an exciting new chapter for both him and Amazon MGM Studios. As he embarks on this next phase of his career, fans can expect to see his creative vision and expertise continue to shine through in the entertainment projects he undertakes. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Poznick and the incredible content he will undoubtedly bring to audiences worldwide.
