Feeling overwhelmed by her daughter’s absence, she prayed for a sign that Carrie was with her. To her astonishment, she was greeted with a bouquet of Birds of Paradise, Carrie’s favorite flower, sent by the play’s director, Hal Prince.
Additionally, during a dinner the following night, Burnett received another sign from her daughter when she noticed the label on a complimentary bottle of champagne read “Louise,” the middle name shared by both her mother and Carrie. These synchronicities served as powerful reminders of Carrie’s presence and provided comfort to Burnett during a difficult time.
