Toonz Media Group CEO P. Jayakumar is set to step down from his position after more than 26 years of leading the Indian animation studio, effective Nov. 30.
Under Jayakumar’s leadership, Toonz has evolved from a pioneering Indian animation studio to a global entertainment powerhouse specializing in content for kids and families. The company has expanded its presence internationally, establishing studios and offices in India, Ireland, Spain, and New Zealand.
In a statement, Jayakumar expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead Toonz, stating, “Leading Toonz has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. What began as a dream shared by a small, passionate team has today grown into a global powerhouse of creativity and storytelling.”
While stepping down from his current role, Jayakumar mentioned his plans to pursue a new venture in the global entertainment space, continuing his passion for creativity and collaboration. He also extended his appreciation to the company’s team and international partners for their support.
To facilitate a smooth transition, Jayakumar has been working closely with Viswanath Rao, the group’s acting CEO, and Karthik V. Kumar, who recently joined as the finance director and board member of Toonz Animation India.
Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, Toonz Media Group has produced and distributed a vast amount of animated content, collaborating with major studios, broadcasters, and streaming platforms worldwide. The company specializes in animation, VFX, and digital content tailored for kids and family audiences.
Some of Toonz’s current projects include “New-Gen Nanobot Heroes” and “Hangry Petz.”
