Susanna Bauer’s intricate and delicate artwork captures the essence of autumn in a unique and beautiful way. As leaves fall from trees, Bauer takes these natural elements and transforms them into stunning textile pieces that showcase the fragility and strength of our forest ecosystems.

Using cotton thread, Bauer meticulously stitches magnolia, gingko, oak, and other types of leaves to create elegant and intimate works of art. Whether she is filling a circular void, joining pointy edges, or merging multiple leaves together, each piece is a study in the intricate balance between nature and craftsmanship.

Currently, Bauer’s new works can be seen in the group exhibition “Rock Paper Scissors” at CLOSE Gallery in southwest England. The exhibition, which features work by a total of a dozen artists including Kate MccGwire and Hew Locke, will be on display until January 17 in Hatch Beauchamp, Somerset.

For more of Bauer’s captivating artwork, you can visit her website or follow her on Instagram. Her pieces, such as “Close” with intricate lacework on gingko leaves, “Unfolding” featuring accordion-like folds on a magnolia leaf, and “Daydreaming” showcasing two magnolia leaves joined with elaborate lacework, are truly mesmerizing.

Bauer’s attention to detail and unique approach to using natural materials make her artwork a must-see for art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Each piece tells a story of the changing seasons and the beauty that can be found in the small and delicate details of the natural world.
