The Shocking Revelations about Kathy Hochul and Linda Sun’s Alleged Connection to China
Recent evidence presented at the corruption trial of former Albany aide Linda Sun has shed light on her alleged ties to Chinese officials and the extent of her influence over top state officials. Sun, who is accused of acting as a Chinese agent, reportedly boasted about Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul’s compliance compared to then-Governor Andrew Cuomo.
According to the trial proceedings, Sun had convinced Hochul to film a Lunar New Year video for China’s New York consulate, where she made the startling claim that Hochul was “much more obedient” than Cuomo. In messages exchanged with Chinese consulate officials, Sun emphasized how Hochul listened to her more than the governor himself.
The messages also revealed that Chinese officials initially requested Cuomo to film the video but Sun offered to secure Hochul’s participation instead. In the video, Hochul can be seen offering New Year greetings and acknowledging consulate head Huang Ping by name.
Prosecutors have raised concerns about Ping’s relationship with Sun, alleging that he provided her family with lavish gifts, including salted ducks, while benefiting from business favors orchestrated by Sun. These favors allegedly resulted in millions of dollars being funneled to Sun’s husband’s seafood export company.
As a result of the corruption scheme, Sun and her husband were able to afford luxury items such as a Ferrari Roma, a $4 million mansion in Long Island, and a $2 million second home in Hawaii. Sun, who was dismissed from her state government position in 2023, has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.
