Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill made a bold statement on social media after the team benched starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Hill posted a peace sign emoji and a disappearing act GIF on X, indicating his thoughts on the decision.

The Dolphins announced that Tagovailoa would be replaced by seventh-round rookie Quinn Ewers following their 28-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This move came just two days after the disappointing defeat.

Hill’s tweet featured the viral “Nileey” GIF, showing someone waving goodbye before vanishing, along with a peace sign emoji in the caption. The receiver, who is currently rehabbing from a season-ending knee injury, seemed to express his thoughts on the quarterback change through this post.

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel also expressed his frustration with Tagovailoa’s performance against the Steelers. McDaniel stated that the quarterback play was not up to par and that all options were on the table moving forward.

Tagovailoa threw for 253 yards in the game, but most of his production came after the outcome was already decided. He also threw an interception and took two costly sacks that halted potential scoring drives.

Reports from NFL Network insiders confirmed that Ewers would start in the upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals. This decision sidelines Tagovailoa, who signed a massive contract extension less than two years ago and leads the league with 15 interceptions this season.

The Dolphins, who have been eliminated from playoff contention, are facing financial challenges due to a projected salary cap deficit. Tagovailoa’s contract includes $56.4 million in guaranteed money for the next season, adding pressure to the team’s financial situation.

Ewers previously saw action in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns, completing 5 of 8 passes for 53 yards. He will now have the opportunity to showcase his skills with a full week of preparation as the starting quarterback for the Dolphins.

Overall, the quarterback change in Miami has stirred up controversy and uncertainty within the team. With Ewers set to take the reins, it remains to be seen how this decision will impact the Dolphins’ performance in the remainder of the season.
