A tragic incident unfolded along the Pacific Coast Highway in California, where a woman named Amber Calderon went on a drug-fueled rampage that resulted in the death of a father-of-four. Calderon, who had fentanyl, methamphetamine, and marijuana in her system, struck three cyclists with her car, killing Pastor Eric Williams and critically injuring two others.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has upgraded Calderon’s charges to felony vehicular manslaughter after toxicology reports confirmed the presence of drugs in her system. The incident occurred as Calderon was driving southbound on the scenic coastal road in Huntington Beach, veering onto the shoulder and colliding with the cyclists.

Despite the impact, Calderon did not stop and continued driving into a beach parking lot. A witness intervened, blocking her car and preventing her from fleeing the scene until authorities arrived. Pastor Eric Williams tragically lost his life in the accident, while the two other cyclists sustained severe injuries including spinal fractures, broken ribs, and a broken ankle.

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer expressed profound sadness over the loss, emphasizing that Pastor Williams’ four young children would now face the holidays without their father due to Calderon’s reckless actions. If found guilty, Calderon could face up to 12 years and four months in jail. As part of her conditions, she has been prohibited from driving, consuming alcohol, or using drugs without a valid prescription.

During a court appearance, Calderon was sternly warned by a judge that any future instance of driving under the influence could result in murder charges. A fundraising campaign for Pastor Williams’ family has garnered an overwhelming amount of support, raising $391,914 to assist his three school-age daughters and 3-year-old son.

Described as a Godly man with a heart for Jesus and people, Pastor Eric Williams dedicated his life to serving others through his work as a pastor. He was known for his kindness, humor, and unwavering faith, leaving a lasting impact on those around him. The community mourns his loss while seeking justice for the senseless tragedy that took him away from his loved ones. Amber Calderon is scheduled to appear in court again on February 20, 2026, as the legal proceedings continue.
