Prime Video has unveiled the trailer for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming mystery series, “Young Sherlock,” which follows the early adventures of the iconic literary detective. The series consists of eight episodes and is set to premiere on March 4.

The official logline describes the show as an origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective, Sherlock Holmes, in a fresh and explosive reimagining of his early days. In this adaptation, Sherlock Holmes is portrayed as a disgraced young man, raw and unfiltered, who becomes entangled in a murder case that jeopardizes his freedom. As he embarks on his first-ever investigation, he uncovers a far-reaching conspiracy that will forever alter his life. Set in 1870s Oxford and spanning across various international locations, the series promises to reveal the early escapades of the anarchic adolescent who is destined to become the legendary resident of Baker Street.

Leading the cast is Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the role of the titular investigator, Sherlock Holmes. Joining him are Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons, and Colin Firth.

While this may be Ritchie’s first foray into the world of Sir Doyle on television, the acclaimed director previously helmed the films “Sherlock Holmes” (2009) and its sequel, “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” (2011), starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

Ritchie directs the first two episodes of “Young Sherlock” and also serves as an executive producer. The series was created for television by Matthew Parkhill, who acts as the showrunner and executive producer alongside Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Marc Resteghini, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson, and co-executive producers Harriet Creelman and Steve Thompson.
