How to Plan a Destination Wedding Without Ever Visiting Your Venue

Planning a destination wedding can be both exciting and overwhelming, especially if you’re doing it remotely. When my then-boyfriend and I got engaged in 2024, we knew we wanted to have an intimate wedding abroad. However, living in New York City meant that we wouldn’t have the luxury of visiting potential venues in person. Despite the challenges, we were determined to make it work.

The first step in planning our destination wedding was deciding on the location. For us, the choice was easy. We had fallen in love with Tuscany during a trip there years ago, and knew that it was where we wanted to exchange our vows. The rolling hills, vineyards, and picturesque landscapes spoke to us in a way that no other place had.

Once we had our location set, we started researching potential venues in the area. A quick Google search led us to an article by Architectural Digest that mentioned The Lazy Olive Villa as a “subdued choice for low-key brides.” Intrigued, we delved deeper into the venue’s website and social media accounts, and everything just felt right. The reviews were glowing, and the pictures were stunning. We knew we had found our dream venue.

Despite not being able to visit The Lazy Olive Villa in person, we felt confident in our decision. We reached out to the venue for more information, and they were incredibly helpful in answering all of our questions and addressing any concerns we had. From the ceremony space to the accommodations for our guests, everything seemed to align perfectly with our vision for the wedding.

Planning a destination wedding remotely definitely has its challenges, but with careful research, communication, and a little bit of trust, it is possible to create the wedding of your dreams. In the end, our wedding at The Lazy Olive Villa was everything we had hoped for and more. The breathtaking views, the intimate setting, and the love that surrounded us made it a day we will never forget.

So if you’re in the same boat, wondering how to plan a destination wedding from afar, just remember to trust your instincts, do your research, and choose a venue that feels like “you.” With a little bit of perseverance and a lot of love, your dream wedding is within reach.
