Google recently unveiled a revamped version of its research agent Gemini Deep Research, leveraging its cutting-edge Gemini 3 Pro foundation model. This new iteration of the agent goes beyond just generating research reports; it now enables developers to integrate Google’s SATA-model research capabilities into their own applications through the newly introduced Interactions API. This move aims to empower developers with more control in the evolving landscape of agentic AI.

Gemini Deep Research is a formidable tool capable of synthesizing vast amounts of information and processing complex contextual inputs efficiently. It is utilized by customers for a wide array of tasks, from due diligence to drug toxicity safety research. Google has announced plans to integrate this advanced research agent into various services such as Google Search, Google Finance, Gemini App, and NotebookLM, signaling a shift towards a future where AI agents handle information retrieval tasks traditionally performed by humans.

One of the key advantages of Deep Research lies in Gemini 3 Pro’s status as Google’s most factual model, trained to minimize hallucinations during intricate tasks. AI hallucinations, where the language model generates inaccurate information, pose a significant challenge in tasks requiring prolonged reasoning and decision-making. Google’s emphasis on minimizing hallucinations underscores its commitment to delivering accurate and reliable results.

To showcase the capabilities of Deep Research, Google introduced the DeepSearchQA benchmark, designed to evaluate agents on complex, multi-step information-seeking tasks. The company has made this benchmark open source, fostering collaboration and innovation within the AI community. Additionally, Google tested Deep Research on Humanity’s Last Exam and BrowserComp benchmarks, showcasing its superior performance compared to competitors.

Despite Google’s success on these benchmarks, the landscape quickly shifted with the launch of OpenAI’s GPT 5.2, codenamed Garlic, on the same day. OpenAI claims that Garlic outperforms its rivals, including Google, on various benchmarks, highlighting the fierce competition in the AI space. This rapid progression underscores the dynamic nature of AI development and the continuous quest for advancements.

The timing of Google’s announcement, coinciding with the release of OpenAI’s Garlic, adds an intriguing layer to the narrative. As the AI landscape evolves rapidly, companies like Google and OpenAI are at the forefront of innovation, driving progress in artificial intelligence research. The race for AI supremacy continues, with each new development pushing the boundaries of what is possible in this ever-evolving field.
