Before becoming a World Series champion with the Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani was a dominant force on the Angels. Now, one of the final jerseys he wore with the Los Angeles team is up for auction, and it’s expected to fetch a hefty sum.
Heritage Auctions revealed to TMZ Sports that bidding for the rare Ohtani jersey will open on February 6. The jersey in question was worn by Ohtani on August 3, 2023, when he hit his 40th home run of the season against the Seattle Mariners and also recorded four strikeouts on the mound for the Halos.
This white and red jersey is a piece of baseball history, complete with the team logo, FBM advertising patches, and the Nike/MLB inventory sticker. It comes from Ohtani’s incredible MVP-winning season, where he became the first player to achieve 10+ pitching wins and 30+ home runs in the same season. Additionally, he made history as the first Japanese-born player to win the MLB home run title.
Despite Ohtani’s impressive accomplishments with the Angels, he never secured a World Series victory until he signed a record-breaking $700 million deal with the Dodgers in December 2023. This deal led to back-to-back World Series wins for Ohtani and the Dodgers in 2024 and 2025.
Whoever wins the bid for Ohtani’s classic jersey will be taking home a valuable piece of baseball memorabilia and a tangible piece of Ohtani’s historic career. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own a piece of baseball history!
